Located on M-21, we are a locally owned and operated ice cream shop featuring 21 original hard serve flavors, creamy soft serve, non-dairy and no sugar added options, and an array of ice cream treats!
We Serve Super-Premium Ice Cream from the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company
Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co. has been making over 100 flavors of Super Premium ice cream since 1962 in Madison, WI. While we will have 24 flavors (21 orignial + 2 dairy-free + 1 sugar free) on board at all times, we will rotate these flavors to have our customers try as many of these delicious flavors as possible!
WHAT IS SUPER PREMIUM ICE CREAM?
Simply put, Super-Premium Ice Cream is the best ice cream! In order to be classified as "super premium", the ice cream must have at least 13% butterfat content, and 50% or lower overrun.
WHAT IS OVERRUN?
"Overrun" is the industry term for the amount of air injected into the product at the time of freezing, or in other words, the ratio of air to cream in the product. Standard overrun for regular ice cream is around 100%, which means that the ice cream is made with one part air to every one part cream. Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream has 14% butterfat and 35% overrun (3 parts cream to 1 part air) creating a more creamy, smoothe, and rich ice cream!
WHAT ABOUT THE BUTTERFAT?
Having a low overrun isn’t all there is to super-premium ice cream. Super premium ice cream must contain at least 14% butterfat. This rich content of butterfat helps create the creamy, smooth texture and the incredible taste that super-premium treats are famous for.
